LMS Course Design: 
​IT Fundamentals

Overview

This course built in the Canvas Learning Management is based on the curriculum created by the Cyber Innovation Center and CISA for the purpose of preparing high school students for the CompTIA IT Fundamentals certification.  The course was converted from an instructor led course to one that is self-paced and can be completed independently.  The course contains the following 8 modules:

• Troubleshooting Methodology
• Introduction to Programming
  
• Data
  
• Hardware Basics
  
• Introduction to Networking
  
• Software Basics
  
• Database Basics
  
• Security Basics
  

​Each module contains lessons based on the curriculum.  Each lesson contains an elearning lesson, lab or scenario, quiz imported from a QTI file, study guide and additional resources.

The elearning lessons in the modules were created using Adobe Captivate from the powerpoint slides provided by the Cyber Innovation Center.  Scripts were created and recorded over the slides to make them self-paced.  Additional video and interactive content were added to the lessons in Adobe Captivate to make them engaging.
